St Mary's Catholic Church serves a hot meal to those in need

We offer a place where people can come inside for conversation or rest. (In warm weather our guests enjoy our backyard with picnic tables). We offer something to drink (coffee, and in warm weather cold water). We offer use of a bathroom. We offer showers that include a change of clothes. We offer some personal hygiene items and limited clothing items (such as T-shirts and socks). We are committed to providing a place where everyone is treated with respect, both guests and volunteers.
Meals on Wheels Delivery
Brighten the day of a homebound senior by delivering hot Meals on Wheels on weekday mornings! Requirements: Each volunteer must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Volunteers should arrive at MIFA between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday to begin delivering meals. Each car will carry two coolers containing food items, and MIFA staff will provide directions through the meals route. Delivering an entire route takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Background checks are required for all Meals on Wheels volunteers.
American Cancer Society
Harrah's Hope Lodge Van Driver
–Harrah's Hope Lodge
Harrah's Hope Lodge needs volunteers to drive patients to cancer treatments. The van is provided by Hope Lodge. This service makes a huge difference to those battling cancer.
International Children's Heart Foundation (ICHF)
ICHF needs help with various office tasks, including data entry, filing, transferring files from online storage to local server, packing medical supplies for shipping to various international mission sites, etc. The donation of your time will help us to reach more children in developing countries who desperately are waiting to receive open heart surgery from the help of our volunteer medical teams. Dates and times are flexible. Our office is open M-F 8:00am-5:00pm.
–Shelby County Schools
Teacher ToolBox needs a greeter, a floater, and an associate to help run the Teacher ToolBox.
The greeter will welcome teachers and directs them to the check-in/check-out desk.
The floater will make sure adequate supplies are on the shelves, and may be required to bring additional supplies from the back room.
The associate will see if the teachers need help finding supplies and will direct teachers to check out when finished shopping.
Usher - The 39 Steps
Ushers fulfill a variety of duties before the show, at intermission, and after the show. Duties may include:
Greeting patrons and giving them their tickets at will call.
Greeting patrons and handing them a program
Greeting patrons and helping them find their assigned seat.
Selling concessions before the show and at intermission.
Picking up small litter in the house after the show.
The usher schedule is very flexible. You may volunteer for any performance on the schedule for which ushers are still needed. In general, days and times are: Thu 6:45-10 PM, Fri-Sat 7:15- 10:30 PM, and Sun 1:15-5 PM. You can volunteer several times on one show or choose different shows. As an added bonus, anytime there are open seats in the house, ushers are invited to watch the show for free.
All of our active ushers are put on the usher email updates list. An email, requesting ushers, will be sent about a week and a half to two weeks before a show opens. Current and upcoming usher opportunities are also always listed on our website. (http://www.theatrememphis.org/usher) Registered volunteers can sign-up to usher at any time for any show that has an open sign-up.
Ushers age 12-15 must be accompanied by an ushering adult.
Ushers must follow dress code.
Ushers must present a positive and welcoming face to our guests.
