Manna House Morning Hospitality
Manna House, 1268 Jefferson

Manna House: We offer a place where people can come inside for conversation or rest. (In warm weather our guests enjoy our backyard with picnic tables). We offer something to drink (coffee, and in warm weather cold water). We offer use of a bathroom. We offer showers that include a change of clothes. We offer some personal hygiene items and limited clothing items (such as T-shirts and socks). We are committed to providing a place where everyone is treated with respect, both guests and volunteers.
Volunteers: We need volunteers to prepare the house for our guests and to spend time with them. Volunteer are also need to run the hospitality room, cook, clean, and help us distrbute socks and hygiene kits. Parking: Manna House is located at 1268 Jefferson. Please park across the street in the parking lot provided by Mississippi Boulevard Church. Do not park in the parking lot immediately next to Manna House. The owners of that building have asked us to not park in that area.

MIFA Meals on Wheels Delivery

Brighten the day of a homebound senior by delivering hot Meals on Wheels on weekday mornings! Requirements: Each volunteer must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Volunteers should arrive at MIFA between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday to begin delivering meals. Each car will carry two coolers containing food items, and MIFA staff will provide directions through the meals route. Delivering an entire route takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Background checks are required for all Meals on Wheels volunteers.

Catholic Charities Fig Tree Food Pantry Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to sort, bag, greet, and distribute food to needy families. Ideal commitment is 6 hours a month. Contact: Lucie Johnson, Coordinator of Supportive Services, 901-722-4797 Our food pantry, at 85 North Cleveland, see families referred to us from MIFA, CCWTN veterans and immigration programs, and Red Cross emergency services. 12 to 15 families, sometimes with as many as half a dozen children, are seen every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between the hours of 9am and Noon. A small group of dedicated volunteers is on hand each day to greet and serve our guests. We would enjoy having YOU consider joining with US in this ministry. Dorothy Day House of Hospitality Dorothy Day Monday Night Meal

Every Monday night, volunteers prepare a simple family dinner and join the families at 5:30 for supper. Volunteers can be individuals, families, or small groups.
